Job Introduction

Do you want to work on one of the country’s fastest growing news titles, working on titles such as CambridgeshireLive, KentLive, SurreyLive and EssexLive? Then this is the role! You will be focusing on how we are connecting with our readers via newsletters and loyal readers on the site itself, around the South East of England.

Our email newsletters have delivered record sign-ups and growth in 2021, with more than 150,000 readers signed up to our products in the South East. Now, we are looking for an experienced Journalist to help us build upon these foundations.

Our newsletters focus on subjects ranging from breaking news to celebrities and TV and from baking to court and crime. Working alongside our audience engagement team, you will strengthen our relationship with our newsletter audiences. Drawing upon data insights, you will craft and curate newsletter content, develop ideas for new newsletters and engage with our audience through the use of social media and surveys.

This is a flexible working position as you will be working from home, however due to the nature of the work you will be required to live in the South East.

What will the role involve?

  • Managing email newsletters for news brands across the region, from concept to successful delivery
  • Growing our number of newsletter subscribers by promoting on our sites, Facebook pages, Instagram and Twitter
  • Analysing the success of our email campaigns and sharing best practice with our journalists across the South East
  • Planning surveys and quizzes on topics which resonate with our readers and turning big breaking stories into sign up opportunities
  • Managing and moderating platforms for logged-in users, such as readers’ comments on our news stories
  • Helping our engagement team manage our social media channels when required

Who are we looking for?

  • Ideally, you’ll have NCTJ-accredited qualifications including news writing and media law
  • You’ll need to be creative and energetic, be social media savvy with the ability to thrive under pressure
  • Experience using email service providers, to develop and deliver email campaigns / newsletters would be advantageous
  • Experience of publishing via digital content management systems, digital analytics and video editing would be advantageous
  • You’ll be comfortable working at pace and under deadline pressure
  • You’ll also need to be flexible covering early and late shifts on a rota, including weekends
