Employee Relations consultant

We are looking for a skilled, CIPD qualified, Employee Relations Consultant to join our HR Advisory team on a permanent basis in our Bexhill or Leicester office. This role will help support some key activity we have currently, and candidates should be within a commutable distance of the office. Although the role is currently home based in the main, we anticipate you will be office based 1-2 days a week post COVID.

The remit

The role holder will be aligned to some of our frontline teams specifically supporting them with their people issues offering proactive, informed, and timely consultancy advice as issues emerge.

Additionally, you can expect to:

  • Work proactively within an aligned business area to provide bespoke coaching to managers enabling and encouraging the early informal resolution of issues, the outcomes of which benefit both our colleagues and our business
  • Manage employee relations formal case work, including supporting and coaching the line managers on best practice.
  • Contribute to the design, development and delivery of an effective ER strategy including policy development, collective consultation arrangements and organisational design/restructure activity.
  • Deliver effective training to inform and develop management skills
  • Efficiently undertake the required operational reporting and MI analysis and trends escalation.

Key skills and experience

The role holder will be able to demonstrate a clear understanding and management of the processes involved in handling absence management, conduct, grievance, and performance cases. including: MI analysis; action planning and individual bespoke case management strategies.

Additionally, we require that you have/are:

  • Worked in a similar sized customer centric business in a similar HR Advisory/Employee Relations consultant role, supporting frontline employees, preferably within a contact centre environment
  • Comfortable being really hands on and owning your casework end to end, accustomed to managing circa 25 cases at any given time
