And now we are now looking for a passionate editor to drive our popular bi-weekly print title whilst growing our digital platforms.
As part of our ambitious growth plans, we are looking for an experienced editor to lead the team in Perthshire.
You will have previous experience of managing a team, covering live and breaking news as well as setting the news agenda each day. You will be able to jump between news, sport and features – understanding what your readers want and managing large volumes of content quickly and to the high standards expected of Reach PLC.
We are looking for candidates with strong leadership skills, excellent storytelling techniques, superb knowledge of social media and a deep understanding of how to make content engaging in print and online.
This role is full time and home-base

Role Responsibility

  • Overall responsibility for the performance of the title, and management of everyone on the team
  • Responsible for overseeing live and breaking content
  • Lead the team to achieve digital audience growth and engagement targets
  • Increase the title’s print circulation
  • Communication, including written, face-to-face and the ability to cascade consistent messages to your team for maximum impact
  • Ensures content is legally and IPSO compliant
  • Foster a high-performance culture by setting clear expectations and having in-the-moment performance discussions.
  • Develop a culture of trust, where people are safe to speak up, clear on their role in the team’s success and empowered to be their best at work.
  • Rewarding and recognising great performance, celebrating people’s achievements and successes.
  • Ensure the continued development of team members, supporting them to reach their full potential.

The ideal candidate

  • A proficient and flexible manager who can drive the team
  • Experience in managing content and hitting print deadlines
  • A first-class writer who is adept across a wide range of topics and as capable of writing attention-grabbing headlines as an engaging copy
  • Experience in a print and digital newsroom
  • Communication, including written, face-to-face, presentation skills and the ability to cascade consistent messages for maximum impact
