Community Content Curator – Maternity Cover

Job Introduction

InYourArea is the UK’s hyper-local news and community platform and was the third most downloaded news app in the UK last year. December 2020 saw the platform’s record month to date, with a huge 6.3 million feed users.
We have the opportunity for maternity cover to support our efforts to ensure more people than ever before are reading local news across the UK, with editorially curated and sourced stories about neighbourhoods.
To start in January, we are looking for a community content curator to join our successful InYourArea Northern team. Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for researching, curating, sourcing, organising, formatting, inputting and publishing a range of community focused content to the InYourArea platform.
This role will be home based, and due to the nature of the position this candidate will need to have proficient knowledge of Northern geography.

Role Responsibility

  • Be able to turn press releases and User Generated Content (UGC) into community stories
  • Use social media to share and find content
  • Get involved in special projects as directed
  • Moderate UGC comments and posts on InYourArea, with manager support
  • Build and maintain relationships with new and existing community content sources
  • Engage with feed users and Area Ambassadors on the InYourArea platform
  • Maintaining email inboxes and respond to community questions
  • Flexible approach to changing shift patterns with some early/late/weekend shifts
  • Ensuring content adheres to IPSO regulations and our Community standards (training given)

The ideal candidate

  • Excellent written English and grammar
  • An interest in using social media platforms such as Facebook,
  • Twitter, Instagram or others
  • First-class organisational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work quickly and effectively under deadline pressure
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A flexible, team player
  • Experience of using a content management system at any level (e.g. WordPress, Escenic or any equivalent software), This is useful, but not essential as full training will be given
