Acting Deputy Celebrity Editor

The Deputy Celeb Editor will support the Celebrity Editor in generating, writing and desk editing exclusive celebrity content for all titles in the Celebrity Magazine and Supplement Hub. This role will report directly to the Celebrity & Entertainment Director and is home-based.

Key Responsibilities

What will the role involve?

  • To bring in exclusive interviews and at home shoots with on brand celebrities
  • To have a book full of brilliant celebrity agent contacts
  • You will have experience in interviewing celebrities, but also editing copy to a high standard
  • To keep abreast of all the latest celebrity news and be able to understand different styles and tones, for different audiences and platforms. To happily work with news practices to ensure efficient copy sharing among titles and excellent production workflow
  • To grow the audience of ok.co.uk by working closely with the Celebrity Editor, Digital Director, Deputy Digital Director and Multi-Media Director to ensure all content is multi-platform and to ensure the celebrity and entertainment team is contributing excellent celebrity stories every day to the digital platform. This must be done in accordance with IPSO and legal requirements
  • To help deliver brand-friendly celebrities to collaborate with our OK VIP and VIP + clubs
  • To step up in the absence of the Celebrity Editor and lead a team of writers.
  • To foster a high-performance culture by setting clear expectations and having in-the-moment performance discussions
The Ideal Candidate

Who are we looking for?

  • Exceptional journalism, with the ability to edit and write in different styles and tones of voice for different audience and platforms
  • Planning and organisation
  • Decision-making
  • Delegation
  • Communication, including written, face-to-face and the ability to cascade consistent messages for maximum impact
  • Previous experience as a Senior Editorial team member in a fast-paced newsroom or magazine
  • Previous experience of managing an editorial team
  • Previous experience of successfully managing a budget
  • Excellent contacts within the industry
  • Passion for celebrity interviews and news
  • NCTJ Diploma or equivalent
