What you’ll be doing
You will support and maintain an SQL estate. Some of your duties will include issue resolution, performance tuning, upgrades, patching, data migration and development environment refreshes, backup configuration, recovery testing and the creation and maintenance of documentation. You will also support and be comfortable with automation tools and scripts. You will also be required to join an out of hours on-call rota.
What’s a typical day?
You will need to adhere to our security policies to ensure our customers data is protected and carry out DR testing for databases including documenting any process changes. You will install, patch and maintain all database software to internal standards and perform development environment refreshes. You’ll troubleshoot and resolve issues on production and development environments while also planning, testing and performing database upgrades. You’ll also need to automate, scripts and make use of tools for routine operations and create documentation for new processes and procedures.
Who we’re looking for?
- Experience supporting MS SQL versions 2008r2, 2012, 2014 and 2016
- Experience supporting Sql Clusters, Mirroring and Always On.
- Experience of Sql Server backup and recovery.
- Experience of implementing and maintaining TDE.
- Experience of database upgrades
- Experience of database migration
- Experience of writing PowerShell scripts
- In depth performance tuning experience
- Knowledge of VMware
- Microsoft operating system knowledge
- Database Capacity Management
- Experience working in a controlled data centre environment
- Able to Manage multiple workstreams and adapt to changing priorities
- Working technical knowledge of current protocols, operating systems, and standards,
- Able to read and understand technical manuals& procedural documentation
- Some networking knowledge – switching routing etc
- Basic knowledge and understanding of ITIL.
