Temporary, 12 months fixed term  

Hours: 3 days per week (flexible over 7 days)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Safeside Support Officer based at Safeside, Vauxhall Road, Birmingham in the Prevention Delivery Team. 

The ideal person for this role will be a practical, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual. Good administration skills are required. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills to be able to communicate with a range of audiences including teachers, children and young people who visit Safeside. They will need to be adaptable, customer-focused and willing to undertake training as required. 

The position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to have a key role in, and contribute to, the delivery of education programmes and the development of new systems and processes to support the future direction of prevention activities and education. 

 

Responsibilities 

Under the line management of the Safeside Coordinator and working with other Safeside teams, you will support: 

  • day-to-day management of the Safeside education facility
  • Managementand monitoring of essential repairs and maintenance work with Facilities Management, liaising with contractors on site 
  • Develop, organise and maintain office systems
  • Managevisitor groups and use of all rooms used by visitors 
  • Meetand greet visitors, and book them in using the correct procedure 
  • Beresponsible for room or village set up and presentation of the centre 

 

Experience and skills 

 

The successful person will need to be computer literate, with experience of using a variety of software packages including O365, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and be able to make best use of available technology for record keeping and audit purposes. 

Essential

  • maintain and improve administration and monitoring systems 
  • compile numerical and statistical information 
  • working effectively in a team, be flexible, assist other team members 
  • interact positively with the public 
  • able to manage the efficient use of resources, assets and equipment  
  • an enhanced DBS check. 

 

 

Desirable  

  • health and safety knowledge linked to the use of public facilities 
  • knowledge of community safety issues 
  • experience or knowledge of marketing and communications 
  • experience or knowledge of education sector, especially schools 
  • knowledge and experience of website content management systems 
  • administration of visitor facilities.
