As the Assistant Director Economic Analysis, you will report to the Director of Finance and Analysis and provide a strategic focus and oversight of MCA’s analytical function, ensuring the quality and value of analysis utilised in decision making.

As a key member of the Senior Management Team within the Finance and Analysis Directorate, you will provide effective and inspiring leadership to the Economic Analysis team, fostering a high performing culture through continuous improvement.

 

Top Responsibilities

  • Leading on MCA’s Analytical Strategy, ensuring that it aligns to both MCA’s Strategic Plans, and the Government’s Analysis Functional Strategy.
  • Providing assurance to MCA’s Accounting Officer and senior officer responsible for analysis
  • Leading MCA’s Economic Analysis team and embedding a culture of continuous improvement and high performance to ensure the effectiveness of support and analytical advice.
  • Overseeing the provision of analytical input by the economic analysis team.
  • Building and maintaining key relationships with senior stakeholders to influence and challenge decision making.
  • Working closely with policy leads to embed good analytical practice in line with HM Treasury guidance.

About You
To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:

  • Extensive experience of delivering analytical programmes of work to support policy development.
  • Advanced knowledge in both macroeconomics and microeconomics

 

Essential qualifications:

  • Full member of the Government Economic Service (GES) or eligible to join
  • First or Upper second-class honours degree in economics (or international equivalent), or a postgraduate degree in economics. For joint degrees – at least 50% of the course modules must be in economics.
