An exciting temporary opportunity has arisen to join the Prevention Team as Prevention Support Assistant. 

The Prevention Support Assistant role is integral in providing the Leadership Team with support to prioritise, plan, allocate and deliver work aligned to our Strategy and Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP), and in contributing to making the West Midlands safer, stronger and healthier.  

This busy and varied role requires close working with the Prevention Leadership Team, Operations, the teams in Prevention, and internal and external stakeholders/partners. We are seeking applications from an individual who has a track record in developing and maintaining strong professional relationships. 

Key to your success in role will be your organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to support Project Managers in Prevention to manage and deliver their project outcomes within the agreed timescales. 

You will be providing coordination for the Prevention performance management processes and meetings, and supporting the Leadership Team to ensure that actions and tasks that result are recorded and delivered on time.  

Responsibilities 

  • supporting the maintenance of projects and the Prevention Work Plan 
  • seeking updates on behalf of Project Managers from stakeholders across Prevention and internal departments and recording progress in the Prevention projects  
  • liaising with stakeholders delivering workstreams and tasks within projects and updating the projects accordingly 
  • supporting Project Manager(s) to ensure that workstreams and tasks in the Prevention Work Plan are delivered to a high standard, within agreed timescales 
  • support the identification, recording and updating of risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies and opportunities for partnership, prevention activities and education programmes  
  • Ensure that prevention activity risk assessments are regularly updated by appropriate team members, to ensure that they remain up to date and available to the workforce, in line with the development and improvement of partnership, prevention activities and education 
  • collating, analysing, interpreting, and producing clear, accurate information to support project delivery processes 
  • coordination of the delivery of the Serious Incident Review (SIR) process  
  • develop, monitor, and maintain SIR process records and documentation  
  • ensuring the application of safeguarding policy, procedure, and practice in line with the responsibilities within the role   

 

Experience and skills 

Essential  

  • understanding of partnerships, prevention activities and education programmes  
  • knowledge of local government and public sector governance and policy making structures   
  • effective communication skills, demonstrated in specific situations and contexts   
  • able to plan and prioritise own workload and that of others 
  • ability to analyse and interpret complex data and develop policies 
  • experience of providing critical analysis and making recommendations 
  • experience of writing and presenting briefing notes and reports  
  • experience of developing strategy and plans 
  • able to work on own initiative and to work in an autonomous environment, but adapt to team working when required   
  • self-motivated, persistent and able to persuade and influence others to adopt new initiatives 
  • highly developed interpersonal skills, including excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • ability to give clear, comprehensive presentations on sometimes sensitive issues  
  • able to meet the criteria specified in the Behavioural Framework 
  • able to demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development 

Desirable  

  • good knowledge and understanding of relevant national strategies, legislation and initiatives associated with the role.
